Step 1:Troubleshooting Tips
If you
are experiencing technical problems, first call the host
site (site of the presenter) and notify them of your situation.
Determine the nature of the problem.
Check
to make sure …
- Are the monitors plugged in?
- Is power turned on to the monitors and the codec?
- Is the distant
(receiving) site’s power on?
- Reboot the system (means to restart the system by turning
off all equipment and turning it on again.)
Most problems
are resolved by rebooting your system. Always notify the
host site before rebooting your system and calling the Help
Desk.
After your
system has been rebooted, it will automatically be reconnected
to the event within 3 minutes.
If this
does not resolve the problem contact the IVN Help Desk- see
Step 2.
Step 2: Call Help Desk Services
If your
site has not connected after three minutes, call the help Desk
at 701-777-6486, option #1.
When you contact IVN be sure to provide the following:
- Your name.
- Site name.
- Room name and number.
- Phone number of videoconference room.
- Videoconferencing system brand name and model (Polycom iPower
970, Polycom VS4000, Polycom ViewStation FX).
- Title
of class/event and/or reservation number.
- Brief description of the problem.
- Any preliminary troubleshooting you performed.
If a Help Desk Service Technician does not answer and you
are referred to voicemail, be sure you leave your name, phone
number and a brief description of the problem. Your call will
be returned as soon as possible.
| Types of Calls
Point-to-Point – Origination site calls the
receive site using the alias name found in the videoconferencing
system address book. Calls may also be made by entering
the IP address of the receive site. Call the other
participant
using the alias for the other site. Be sure to hang
up when you are finished.
Multipoint – The
network MCU calls all sites. Calls will be disconnected
at the scheduled end time. |
